Who we are

The Destiny Wimpye Foundation was established to ensure that underprivileged youth have the opportunity to pursue their passion for dance, breaking financial and social barriers in ballet education. Founded by Destiny Wimpye, a professional ballet dancer with Pacific Northwest Ballet, the foundation offers free classes, community programs, and essential supplies like pointe shoes to young dancers who might otherwise be excluded from these opportunities.

Guiding the foundation is a board of accomplished individuals who share a commitment to advancing arts education. Anthony Burrell, associate professor of dance at Boston Conservatory at Berklee, brings decades of experience as a choreographer, director, and advocate for BIPOC artists. With a storied career that includes collaborations with Beyoncé, Mariah Carey, and Prince, Burrell also leads initiatives like the Breaking Barriers Summer Dance Intensive to empower young artists.

Courtney Bear, another board member, combines her background in dance and medical sales to passionately advocate for arts education. Having served on multiple arts boards, Courtney is dedicated to ensuring all children experience the transformative discipline and joy of dance.

With the support of organizations like Pacific Northwest Ballet and Family First Community Center, the foundation is building a future where no dancer is left behind.
